With harvest around the corner, it's time to release our 2010 Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir. This is our fourth vintage and the wines are showing the consistent flavor profile of Keefer Ranch: lovely red fruits and bright acidity evident from the start, with soft tannins and a lingering finish complementing the palate.

The 2010 is comprised of two clones of Pinot Noir: Swan and Clone 115. On September 22, 2010, we picked the Swan at 24.7 Brix with a pH of 3.41. These numbers are nearly perfect, and the juice's taste proves it!

The Clone 115 was picked a little riper, on September 28, 2010, at 25.1 Brix with a pH of 3.55. We purposely did this to coax out the darker fruit flavors and give the wine a little more complexity. Both clones were aged 17 months in 100% French oak (40% new).

Bottling took place on April 20, 2012, less than a year ago, so if you choose to enjoy a bottle now, I encourage you to decant this wine before drinking. A little oxygen will open it up and let the aromatics and texture shine through. In terms of ageability, the 2010 should do well in the cellar for at least five years.

Wine will ship as weather permits. Due to weather concerns, we will begin shipping week of October 29, 2012. Please plan ahead for the holidays and let us know if you have any special requests.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support, and we look forward to sharing our current and upcoming releases with you! Join us at Pinot on the River, October 26, 2012 on the Healdsburg Plaza, or if you'd like to come by the Ranch to taste or tour, please give Craig a call at 707-293-4326.

PINOTFILE reviews 2008 Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir – December 14, 2010 issue
"The nose blossoms over time offering lovely scents of black cherries, nutmeg, cut flowers, and underbrush. A little darker and more intense than the 2007 offering, but remains a feminine style with pleasing delicate dark red cherry fruit, gossamer tannins, an alluring silkiness, with an intense cherry flavored finish. Beautifully balanced. Not offering all it is capable of now, this wine deserves further cellaring for at least a year. Very Good. Reviewed December 14, 2010" Link to review

PINOTFILE reviews Keefer Ranch 2007 Pinot Noir – December 14, 2010 issue
"Bright Bing cherry aromas with a complimentary accent of spices including nutmeg leading to crisp and satisfying flavors of black cherries, strawberries, and raspberries with hints of spice box, cola and green tea that fan out nicely on the pleasing finish. A seamless wine with silky tannins and no discernible oak. A treasure of a wine that really delivers the goods. Reviewed December 14, 2010" Link to review
